WPAFW2013 is just around the corner! Come join us at our new venue, the North Park Lodge! This rustic lodge accommodates more furs than ever for our full two day event! Set in the middle of North Park, we've got a ton of room to play, host events, and socialize!

When is it? October 11-13! We're kicking off earlier than ever on Friday and staying late through Saturday, and have informal activies on Sunday if you haven't gotten your fill! Check out our website for information regarding our hotel reservation block at the Wexford Econolodge (I-79 and Route 910), our programming guide, and the delicious food (four meals!) that's included in your membership. The hotel block closes on Sept. 26th.

This year's Charity Raffle proceeds will benefit Hide-E-Hole Ferret Rescue! This local rescue and no-kill shelter is located in the heart of Mt. Oliver and They take in unwanted ferrets, get them medical care as needed, work on behavior issues, and strive to find good, permanent homes. If the ferret is deemed unadoptable (usually due to serious health problems), they will keep that ferret for the rest of its natural life. As a true no-kill shelter, they only euthanize in the case of medical necessity. They rely on the support of volunteers and sponsors to support their cause. The shelter has been “official” since November 2002, but Barb Carlson has personally been doing rescue work with ferrets (on a much smaller basis) for at least 5 or 6 years before that.

Last year's Charity Auction featured almost 100 prizes, vouchers for services and commissions from many local and esteemed artists within the furry fandom. Other items included collectable knives, plush critters, candy, cards and games and much, much more!

Our featured artist for this year is our very own Akira Shima!

Pre-registration is open until October 1st! A regular, attending membership is only $25 if you pre-reg and food for both event days is included! To add a little extra kick to your membership, try out our Sponsor level. Bam! For only $50, you'll get all of the attending level perks plus a special gift and access to our beer bar! This is brand new for WPAFW 2013, and we hope you'll enjoy the ice-cold kegs! If you'd really like to help us out, take advantage of our new, Super Sponsor membership! It's $100 and Pre-Reg only, but we'll give you an extra special, unique gift and our undying gratitude. You get super-line-cutsies, too! Visit our Registration Page and sign up. Memberships at the door are also available!

We're excited to see you here and have some exciting events lined up - come check it out! The Charity Raffle, The Zoo, included and delicious food, Open Mic events, a LIVE performance by Look Left on the outdoor stage! There's a car show, fantastic dances and music from the paws of DJ Frisby, DJ Goggles and DJ Gir! Take a look at the online schedule for more information and teasers!

We're excited to see you at WPAFW 2013 - Come together, furry family reunion style!

Yes it is AGAIN that time of year. Time for the WPAFW. FEEL THE POWER! SEE THE MAJESTY! HEAR THE SCREAMING OF THE INNOCENT! EAT ALL THE FOOD. WIN ALL THE PRIZES!!!!!!!!!!!!

we are now located at the WILDLY BEAUTIFUL (according to the pictures) North Park Lodge Ummm i mean this one... sorry. which i am assured is NOT on an First Nations burial ground nor has it been the sight of grisly murders or strange cult activity involving strange otherworldly beings. and that is not blood on the walls. it is rust. which is why the lodge is Rustic.

ALSO Our hotel is finally decided on! Econolodge! cause we are cheap fuckers but not so cheap as to put you guys up at the Bates motel.

go to WPAFW.ORG and go look at shit and register! i mean holy shit we have a Sarcophagus filled with mystery slots of mystery for fucks sake for in the ever popular Charity Raffle. Imagine you could be the lucky person to win a knock off dead Egyptian official for a buck. Imagine what they will say in the afterlife when they found out and now have to sit in the corner of your room witnessing GOD knows what (probably porn and video games but you never know.) and he has slots for you to fill! i mean when do you ever get to see that!!!!!!!!

So register and come in accordance with the prophesy!

Pittsburgh area furries are coming to visit Akron! Come hang out with us!

Hello!  My name is San and I'm an arctic wolf Pittsfurgher!  A handful of us here in the Steel City are feelin' a little silly.  We don't have a White Castle any closer than Akron, OH.  So... What do crazy and hungry furs do?  Decide to drive 2.5 hours for burgers?  Oh yea!

We want to meet yinz!  So we are extending an open invitation to join us at White Castle!

Here's the original post on our website: http://www.pa-furry.org/node/5832/furries-go-white-castle-furmeet#comment-31411

ADDRESS TO WHITE CASTLE: 2900 S Arlington Rd  Akron, OH 44312

We are planning to be there somewhere between 9:30p-10:30p

Yea, that's a big window, but that'll cover some extra time for us to get lost!  I hope that doesn't happen though.

If you want to get in contact with me directly!  Feel free to throw an email at me!  san.nightfire@gmail.com

Thanks guys!

Apartment for rent Columbus Ohio
So looks like we have some room to fill in the old Fortress of Zombie.
It is a one bedroom but very large in-law apartment in downtown Columbus.
+You must have a reliable source of income (this is the issue we have had with past tenants)
+Please be clean! Clutter is OK but filth is not!

We are a pretty laid back house, most of us keep to ourselves. We do stuff as a group on occasion so if you mesh well with us the better!

The apartment is less then $800 a month and that includes utility costs!
The only additional costs you might have are Phones (we all just have cell phones, no lan lines)
And if you want cable TV (we only supply internet, none of us really watch TV)

[Edit] Quick layout doodle of the floor plan, not completely to scale, but to give an idea:https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7541466/aptlayout.jpg

Western PA Furry Weekend begins TOMORROW!!
I know everyone is talking about RainFurrest or Furlaxicon, but I don't want anyone to forget that the Western PA Furry Weekend is also taking place this weekend in Pittsburgh, PA! So if you're looking for a fun and relaxing weekend and can't afford a full out con, let me suggest you join us at the WPAFW this year! www.wpafw.org

Activities start at 7pm Friday, September 28 at the Quality Inn Pittsburgh North with an Artist's Jam followed by Dances until 1am. There's also plenty of room to socialize, play games and bounce around in your fursuit.

If Friday night is out, then come by Fireman's Park in Aspinwall at Noon on Saturday, September 29, where the Event continues at it's outdoor venue. There we'll serve up lunch and dinner, offer games and activities and close up the night with our famed Charity Raffle.

Events spin up again at the Quality Inn Pittsburgh North Saturday night where the socialization continues and we rock the night with two more Dances!

We meet up again at the Quality Inn Pittsburgh North on Sunday at 11am to head to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium or the Carnegie Museum of Natural History (your choice) to continue the weekend's fellowship. The weekend ends with dinner at Five Guys Burgers & Fries at Pittsburgh Mills off Rt 28 north of Pittsburgh.

For more information and to see our complete schedule of events, please visit our website at www.wpafw.org!

The staff and I are looking forward to showing attendees a good time this weekend!

Swooping In
I've been in Columbus for about 5 years and before that I was in New York. I'm pretty mellow and I'm a generally kind person. I play video games of course (recently picked up Prototype 2 and Soul Calibur 5), but I'm also in high school, so games aren't my first priority. I just like to chat every once in a while to get away from school work (despite that I'm a pretty heavy procrastinator).

If anyone enjoys chess or anything let me know. When winter comes around, I'm also up for Snowboarding (or if you're into skiing). Sometimes I play a bit of backyard football with friends, but otherwise I have a pretty heavy schedule. I was more of just dropping in to get connected with a localized community. I have Skype and gmail, so those are my methods of communication. Thanks for reading =)

-Ace

PS: If I'm a little odd, it's probably from sleep deprivation and caffeine (I get a little hyper with caffeine).

Gaming fur looking for buddies in Columbus
I've lost touch with the few furs I've made friends with over the years. I find myself sitting around the apartment more and more as the days go by... so it's time to change that. I'm looking to befriend furs that like to game, hang out, laugh and have fun. Especially games and movies old and new. ^v^

Hey everyone - Also: Morphicon!
I'm not technically an Ohio fur, but me and my group live 10 min south of Cincy so we tend to associate with all of our Ohio brethren the most. I thought it was about time to drop in and say hi, especially since we're going to be at Morphicon again this year.

I'm Sal. :) Those who have been to Morphicon may know me by "Growly Genet". I work with Ringtail Cafe Productions - a publishing company that produces both anthro and non-anthro comics, magazines and books. We've got a brand new issue of The Confectionaries for this con and I'm so excited we'll be getting to share it with everyone.

I'm open for pre-Morphicon badge commissions. We're doing a price overhaul for AC after this con is over, but my badges are $20 full colour and if you order now, they can be done by Morphicon. Check out my commission sheet here to pre-order: http://www.ringtailcafe.com/commissions/

Also, for anyone interested in furry comics, we're currently running a Kickstarter to pay for the printing of Ringtail Cafe Issue #6. Doing short runs of comics is fine for selling at cons, but we're really wanting to do a push to get Ringtail Cafe into Comic Shops across the country. It's not easy, given that RTC is a furry book, but we hope the reduce in price point will make things more appealing for shops we're marketing too. Kickstarter is safe for donators as well as allowing us to offer all kinds of fun rewards. If you're interested in helping fund the book, be sure to check out our Kickstarter page too: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1608048069/ringtail-cafe-issue-6

Last, but not least, a question for those in the know: Is there a Cincinnati Furries group? I keep seeing mention of a Cincy-furs community but I haven't been able to actually talk to anyone from it.

:) Good to talk to you all! Hope to catch you at Morphicon soon!

Looking for fabric scrap donations for Morphicon
I will be running the ears and tail making workshop at Morphicon this year, and am looking for anyone local (within an hour or two of Columbus) who has some faux fur fabric scraps that they'd be willing to donate to the convention. It can be small swatches or weirdly-shaped remnants that you have leftover from a
previous project. Please contact me directly if you have something to donate, and we'll work out a way to transfer the fabric to before or at Morphicon.

Thanks much! :)

Anybody like to play cribbage? Race for the galaxy? Chess? Dominion? Whatever?

Any mailing list I should sign up for to enable smooth communications?

I'm of a mind to donate a fan, but I wanted to check first whether there was anyfur unable to afford one before I donate to strangers.
